Those who have successfully completed their secondary education are eligible for the undergraduate four-year course of study.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The process of recognition of prior education by Turkish higher education institutions is still in its incipient stage. Likewise, the recognition of prior education has neither been started nor implemented by all departments at Namik Kemal University. However, a proficiency exam is held at the beginning of each academic year regarding the compulsory Foreign Language Course which is to be offered in the curriculum of the Department. The students who have embarked on a self-learning period or acquired necessary skills in the course are eligible to enter this exam. Those who have successfully passed the exam are eligible not to take the course.

Degree Requirements and Rules

The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (Cum.GPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of DD/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.

Program Profile

Namık Kemal University Faculty of Law aims to graduate students as competent lawyers in the fields of private law and public law. The aim of the program, which provides theoretical and practical training in accordance with the requirements of contemporary legal education; is to graduate its students equipped so that they can play a role in the process of creating law and contribute to the development of legal culture. Our aim is to train qualified lawyers who have the technical knowledge of law and the ability to analyze legal issues and produce solutions in order to work in fields such as academic career, judgeship, prosecutor's office, attorneyship, consultancy in our country and abroad, in international platforms.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Our graduates can take the Turkish Ministry of Justice exams to become a judge or a prosecutor, they can complete their 1-year compulsory internship under a bar association and work as self-employed lawyers or as lawyers in the law departments of law firms and companies. They can provide legal advice.

Access To Upper Degree

Upon successful completion of their undergraduate programme of study, the students are encouraged to embark on advanced academic studies on the graduate level (master’s and doctoral) on condition of having received the required score in ALES exam and possessing sufficient knowledge of English or another foreign language.

Exams, Assessment and Grading

Exams to be held within a one-year education period; quizzes, midterm exams, semester/end exams, make-up exams, make-up exams, single course exams and additional exams. Exams; can be done in writing, orally or in writing-oral.

For one lesson; Semester/year activities consisting of applications, assignments, presentations, projects, seminars and similar studies can be held. Their contribution to the course grade is determined by the responsible lecturer of the relevant course at the beginning of the semester, is stated in the course information form of the relevant course and notified to the Dean's Office.

Exams are evaluated out of 100 full marks. Year-end grade of a course; It is the sum of 30% of the arithmetic average of the midterm or midterm exams and 70% of the grade taken in the semester/end exam or make-up exam. In case of quizzes, the effect of these exams on the success grade cannot exceed 10%. Year-end grade of a course; Provided that it is announced at the beginning of the year, it can vary between 30% and 50% of the arithmetic average of the midterm or midterm exams, between 70% and 50% of the grade taken in the semester/end or make-up exam, and the total of the rates will be 100%. can also be calculated. As a result of the calculation, the first number after the decimal point is increased to a lower integer if it is less than five, and to a higher integer if it is five or greater.

b) A student whose semester/year-end exam or make-up exam, if any, and both the semester/year-end grade are below 50 out of 100, are considered unsuccessful in that course.

c) The grading system, which is based on the evaluation of students' achievements, is expressed with the following degrees and letters:

Teaching methods are determined so as to improve skills, such as teaching-learning strategies, self-discipline, life-long learning, observation, sharing knowledge, presentation, critical thinking, teamwork, effective use of informatics.
