Sports and Leisure Facilities

Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, apart from being an institution of academic research and teaching, has been designed as a place where students can experience both education activities and a social life. There are facilities such as canteens and cafeterias, and especially our Sports Centre which offers many recreational activities such as chess, table tennis and billiards. Every year, our university undertakes the organization of various conferences, discussions, exhibitions, theatre, music, dance, and other cultural, artistic and sports events on national and international levels.

You will thus find a campus network designed to establish a social life that contributes to a complex range of academic and cultural experiences at our university. For instance, the TNKÜ Folk Dances Club continues to exhibit the best forms of our folk dancing which is revived from the past and carried to the future as an aspect of our self-consciousness as a nation. Our students are also involved in many extra-curricular activities which make our university attractive to potential national and international students.

Therefore, besides the prior needs such as education, nutrition and accommodation, our university values the cultural aspect and undertakes the organization of various conferences, discussions, exhibitions, theatre, music, dance, and other cultural, artistic and sports events on national and international levels. Lots of cultural and artistic activities, such as the traditional annual “Spring Festival”, are organized at our university. These numerous activities, which include conferences, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, theatre performances, concerts, and dances, aim to entertain the students, and diversify and enrich their social life.

TNKU Traditional Spring Festival is held annually in May. During its three days, with numerous entertaining dances, concerts, theatre performances, competitions and lots of other activities, students entertain themselves and relax after a whole tiring year of studying.

Last but not the least, among our campus buildings is the newly built and brought into service Sports Centre. It includes indoor sports hall, swimming pool, fitness and aerobic rooms, sauna, squash, Turkish bath, and Finnish bath. Outside, there are walking and running tracks. Our students and staff are invited to join various sport activities, and the sports and recreational facilities which are offered to them correspond to a hygienic and healthy environment. Students and staff can benefit from the opportunities of our sports complex by applying online. Our experienced trainers offer fitness, swimming, and Pilates sessions, and Latin and traditional dancing classes at our indoor sports centre to enrich the lives of Namık Kemal University students and employees, to improve their physical condition, and to contribute to their general welfare. A new stadium with a covered grandstand and a capacity of 4,000 people is being under construction on our main campus.
