Registration Acceptance ConditionsApplication requirements are announced separately when the quotas are announced each semester.
Recognition of Prior LearningIn case of application for the lateral transfer quota announced in the relevant department, lateral transfer may be possible with the approval of the relevant department head and the decision of the institute's board of directors.
Degree Requirements and Rules The students studying in this Ph.D program are required:
to take a minimum of 7 courses with a minimum of 21 local credits
to pass the qualifying examination,
to prepare and defend a doctoral dissertation
to succeed in all the courses with a letter grade of at least CB/S
to have a Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.50/4.00 with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits.
Program ProfileThe Private Law Doctorate Program aims to provide advanced specialist knowledge to doctoral candidates. Candidates examine current and controversial issues in the sub-branches of private law in the courses they take for four semesters. In these examinations, they evaluate and discuss the existing private law concepts and institutions in the light of new developments. In the courses, candidates are encouraged to develop a critical approach to existing concepts and institutions, to be able to identify and define new ideas by following developments, and to defend their original ideas at the end of their studies. Candidates who complete the course phase choose a sub-branch of private law and prepare an original thesis on this subject. The doctoral program places special emphasis on independent research, developing research methods, and also research projects. Students are expected to take part in and contribute to various academic studies in addition to scientific subjects from the beginning of the program.
Occupational Profiles of GraduatesGraduates can pursue careers as high-level lawyers in public and private institutions after completing this program.
Access To Upper DegreeStudents who graduate from the program can do post-doctoral studies. It provides the opportunity to become an associate professor for those who want to continue academically.

Subject to the Principles of Namık Kemal University Postgraduate Education-Training and Examination Regulation No. 30022 and the Regulation on Amendments to Postgraduate Education and Training Regulation No. 28551.
