Profile of The ProgrammeThe Department of Plant Protection was established in 1982 in Tekirdağ as a unit of Trakya University in Edirne. With the establishment of Namik Kemal University in 2006, the Department has carried out its studies and works as part of this University. The Department of Plant Protection had its first undergraduate students in the academic year 1997-1998. Until 2012, the Department had 248 undergraduate. The department consists of two subdivisions as Entomology and Phytopathology; 4 Prof.Dr., 2 Assoc. Prof. Dr., 4 Assistant Prof. ,1 Dr., 1 Research Assistant. Objectives of the undergraduate program are two-dimensional. First dimension is to induce necessary knowledge and skills about diagnosing entomological and phytopathological problems in plants cultivated either in fields, greenhouses or nurseries. Second dimension is to inform students about control strategies, which allow conservation of the environment and human health.
